From early in my relationship with my husband, I started calling him Mr. Sniffles. He always seemed to have a cold or allergy to deal with. To this day, if he’s having a bad night with nasal congestion, we both have a bad day. Whether you or your partner have issues with nasal congestion or mouth breathing, it affects the way the both of you feel and function the next day.
There are so many ways lack of sleep can affect you. For me, I have difficulty focusing and become more forgetful. I’m not a big fan of the bags under my eyes either. My husband feels the same way. He says he’s even a bit more clumsy when he’s overtired.
We are working on getting our nights right so we can feel more energetic and refreshed each morning. I’ve created a “ready for bed” routine to help set a good night in motion. This includes making sure my husband is stocked up on his Breathe Right® Nasal Strips. This helps us BOTH have a better tomorrow.
Breathe Right® Nasal Strips are a drug-free and clinically proven way to instantly lift nasal passages and open your nose to help you breathe better so you can sleep better. When my husband sleeps better, I sleep better. It’s a win-win!
A recent addition to my bedtime routine is a cup of homemade mint tea with a hint of lavender. I find it to be so soothing. It’s super easy to make. Here is the recipe:
Homemade Mint Tea with Lavender
- One cup fresh mint leaves
- 1-2 fresh lavender blossoms
- 4 cups water
Instructions: Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Strain leaves, and pour into your favorite tea cup. In the warmer months, this tea is nice over ice, too!
In addition to this tea, I’ve created the following routine to help me settle in for a good night’s rest.
Write in my gratitude journal – Instead of focusing on a to-do list for tomorrow, I spend a few minutes focusing on the little things I am thankful for each day. This helps set me off to sleep in a good mood.
Put on cozy sleep socks – When my feet are cold, it wakes me up. I love having a pair of cozy sleep socks like these.
Have an eye cover handy – While the days are still on the long side, the morning sun wakes me a bit too early. These cute eye covers match my socks and let me get in a few more ZZzzzs.
Place a lavender sachet under my pillow – The lovely scent helps me relax.
Make sure hubby applies his Breathe Right® Nasal Strip – When he forgets, we both suffer.
Breathe Right® Nasal Strips provide a variety of options. They come in different sizes, calming scents and even strips for sensitive skin. Simply follow the instructions in the box to properly apply a strip. It’s pretty simple. Make sure you have a clean nose, and apply the strip so that the tabs cover your nostrils where they flare. Rub gently to ensure it adheres well, and you’re ready for bed. In the morning, wash your face or take a shower before removing Breathe Right® Nasal Strips. This helps loosen the strip for easy removal.
You can find Breathe Right® Nasal Strips at Walmart. That’s where I picked up a new box for my husband. They are easy to find in the allergy aisle.
If you or your loved one suffers from nighttime nasal congestion, Breathe Right® Nasal Strips are a drug-free and clinically proven way to instantly lift your nasal passage and open your nose to help you breathe better so you can sleep better.
